Privacy Policy

Packhorse is a trip planning app built by BAM LAB, LLC. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we handle it. The short version: we collect only what's needed to make the app work, we don't sell your data, and we don't run ads or trackers.

Data we collect

When you use Packhorse, we store the following:

• Account information — your email address or Apple ID, used for authentication
• Profile information — your display name and any profile details you provide
• Trip data — trips, destinations, accommodations, transportation, notes, and other itinerary details you create
• Travel documents — passport details, visas, tickets, and other documents you choose to store
• Group membership — which travel groups you belong to and your role within them
• Photos — images you upload for trip covers or documents

How we use your data

Your data is used to:

• Authenticate you and maintain your session
• Store and display your trips, itineraries, and travel documents
• Enable group collaboration so your travel companions can see shared trip details
• Search for accommodations when you use the hotel search feature

Packhorse may earn commissions through affiliate partnerships when you book accommodations, flights, experiences, or purchase recommended products through the app. We may also use anonymized or aggregated data to improve the app and understand how features are used. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Third-party services

Packhorse uses third-party services to operate, including:

• Authentication providers — to securely sign you in
• Cloud hosting and database providers — to store and serve your data
• Travel and commerce partners — when you search for accommodations, flights, experiences, or view product recommendations, relevant information (such as dates, location, or preferences) may be shared with our affiliate partners
• Mapping and location services — for place search and location data

We only share information with these services to the extent necessary to provide the app's features. Each service operates under its own privacy policy.

Data storage and security

Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted by Supabase. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Authentication is handled via secure tokens. We do not store passwords — authentication is handled through email magic links or Apple Sign-In.

Data sharing

Your trip data is shared with other members of your travel groups — that's the core purpose of the app. Beyond that, we do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with anyone.

Data retention and deletion

Your data is retained as long as you have an active account. You can request deletion of your account at any time by contacting us.

When you delete your account, your personal profile and any trips or data you created outside of groups will be permanently removed. However, data you contributed to a shared group (trips, destinations, notes, etc.) is owned by the group and will be retained for other group members.

Children's privacy

Packhorse is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
